Can I specify the controller solution for my flash order?

In short

Yes, for UDP modules and semi-finished boards the controller is a specification line, not a hidden choice. We work with Alcor, ITE, Xinbang and Micov controllers in QFN, 24-pin, 48-pin and COB packages, and the right one is matched to your host interface, capacity and workload. For a removable USB drive the controller is less often specified by the buyer, but if your host has a known compatibility constraint, tell us and we select against it. The controller decides enumeration, speed behaviour and power draw, so for embedded use it belongs in the build record rather than being left to us.

Why the controller matters

The controller is the part that talks to your host. Two controllers at the same capacity can enumerate differently, sustain different write speeds and behave differently under power loss.

For a soldered part (UDP, semi-finished board), the controller is part of your design, so we confirm it in writing before building.

For a branded drive, we select a controller that meets the quoted speed class; you only need to specify it if your host is unusual.

Frequently asked questions

What if my host only works with one controller?

Send the host and the constraint. We confirm the matching controller in the quotation and hold it for repeat batches, because a silent controller change is exactly what breaks a working design.

Does the controller affect write speed?

It is the main determinant after the NAND grade. Read and write speed is a per-project specification, and the controller is the lever we use to meet it.
